Word World Giveaway - building words and building brains!

Hi, Stacy again, still filling in for my good friend Angela while she is wisked away for adult time at Disney World. Knowing Angela, she's probably getting more great ideas for this blog while enjoying some much desserved R and R. Mad props out to my bloggy homegirl!

So we tried out the WordWorld - Flying Ant DVD last night and wow, the kids were riveted. Probably their favorite out of the bunch. I love Word World animation, it reminds me of "Back to the Barn Yard" only much more educational. WordWorld revolves around WordFriends and WordThings, characters and items made of the letters that spell them, in the correct order. So, for example, a barn is made out of the letters B-A-R-N, and a pie out of P-I-E, shaped so that they actually look like a barn or pie — with this rule extending to the characters in the show. The WordThings can be assembled and disassembled during the show by the characters, who use the items in their adventures and to solve their problems.

The DVD contains 4 installments, "Flying Ant", about an insect airshow, " Catch that C!" which is about a bag of run away Cs, "Shuffleword", which features Pig and Ant building words, and "Play Ball!" which features Robot playing on an All Star Baseball team playing a powerhouse bug team. WordWorld is fun and catchy for small children, but an educationally funded study demonstrates that "WordWorld works to improve children's early literacy skills, including oral vocabulary and their ability to read and recognize worlds featured in Wordworld."

I love how all the characters and objects in WordWorld are made of letters. Very clever. I was out a few weeks ago, buying what I'm guessing was another outdoor toy for my kids now that Spring is finally here, and I happened upon actual WordWord stuffed animals. They were plush words shaped like the characters in WordWorld, has anyone seen these? I think I saw them at Toy'sRUs. I was facinated by them. Now that I've viewed the video, I get what all the fuss is about, it really is a unique way to educate kids about reading while entertaining them.

I'm excited to tell you that Angela has four (4) copies of WordWorld Flying Ant to give away!

We like the pig. The ant is cute. Especially in the one where he adds GI and becomes a giant. It really made me think how cool it was that something so small became so big.
