Ehh.. a movie playing on my biggest fear.

I hate to say this or even think about it, but waking up blind (that is or at least waking up with your vision drastically reduced) is a reality for me. Though I've never gone totally blind I do wake up with the fear that I could be blind due to my whole eye condition thing. The close I ever got was about a 40 point drop in vision that happened literally overnight, and that my friends is as close as I'd ever and I do mean EVER want to come.

Regardless if you have an eye condition that makes this a reality for you or not, I think many people at least are somewhat scared of going blind. Just think about it, how many of you are scared of the dark? Well imagine it being permanently dark, no longer being able to see your child's face, watching a movie, seeing the flowers. Really the only one that truly scares me is not being able to see that beautiful little face, aka Connor, anymore. In all matters of speaking being blind is not the most terrible thing in the world as I've known many people who were blind and lived perfectly normal and productive lives, but not seeing that beautiful smile in the morning.. ehhh torture.

Imagine driving down the road and suddenly going blind. This becomes a reality for the world in
Blindness
. The man who suddenly goes blind is taken to a doctor who can not find any reason at all for this the guy's weird and sudden blindness. The doctor himself goes home to wake up the next morning to find that he has suddenly gone blind as well as several of his other patients who he saw the previous day. Needless to say this starts happening all over and quarantine areas are set up as obviously this blindness this is contagious. The only weird thing is the doctor's wife can see just fine but to stay with her husband she fakes blindness as well.

What would happen if a whole country started to go blind? How would we deliver mail, handle simple things, or even police. A sudden change like that would cause violent riots, mayhem, and a total breakdown of society, which is exactly what beings to happen. Sure life would go on and you can totally survive without vision but take a second and think about your lifestyle, there certainly would not be any more driving around. EH!!! All of this crazy stuff is going on and the main actress can see just fine but she fails to tell people this till the end of the movie.

Blindness is one of one of those movies that scares the living crap out of you and there is no boogie man hiding in a spooky building. Just the thought, the idea, the possibility will leave you just a tiny bit scared to go to bed thinking, what if? Welcome to my greatest fear.

Blindness
is available right now on DVD and you can pick yours up on Amazon.

I have three copies of Blindness to give away to my readers.

One of my worst fears is to not be able to hear. I would feel so lost.

This movie is right up my alley because I have always said that this is my worst fear, blindness! I don't know how many times driving down the road with my husband I tell him how I am thanking God for this gift of sight and of all my senses it would be the worst for me to lose. Never to see my grandchildren grow or the leaves to change colors, or to see the smile I put on my lovers' face. If I have to choose another fear it would be to be alone with no friends or family, then there would be no reason to exist.

Not just blindness, but the idea of eye-injury wigs me out to no end.

I read this book a few years ago... it was amazing. I'd love to have the opportunity to see the movie!

OOh, I've been wanting to see this movie. I think it looks so creepy, but totally awesome.

One of my biggest fears is bugs. I will hyperventilate if a cricket or grasshopper gets too near me, and the same goes for spiders or really any other creepy crawly. Yipes!!

Thanks for the entry.

I do fear blindness, especially since I require a pretty staunch prescription for nearsightedness. But since becoming a parent, I would say that something happening to my kids is more terrifying than something happening to me. Especially having two... the idea of having to choose which of them to save in an emergency would be the most terrifying thing I can think of. Wow, just typing that gave me the willies...

So now I am going to think about Gael Garcia Bernal because that is much, much more pleasant to dwell on.
