Just when you thought it was safe to go outside!

The Happening was one of those movies I had meant to see in the theater but never got a chance too so I've been waiting on pins and needles to see it. From M. Night Shyamalan, The Happening is the classic "twist" sort of horror movie. Though I wouldn't really call it a classic horror movie it will certainly leave you feeling very unsettled and with a whole new fear of something that seems so natural... wind.

The movie opens in New York City at Central Park its a normal day.. the birds are signing kids are playing and then suddenly a girl stabs her hairpick in her neck and kills herself without any warning. Next thing you know men are falling to their death at a construction site. Its really sort of gory at first. Next thing you know cities all over the North East are having "events" where people are suddenly killing themselves without any reason. Mark Walberg's character flees the city via train and ends up getting stuck in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere.

I really hate to say anymore as its best to see the movie without knowing what is causing people to commit suicide as the best part is trying to figure out what on earth was causing it. Terrorists? The Government? Who knows, but there is a small clue in the beginning of the movie when Walberg is teaching his high school science class.

I will tell you now that The Happening is the best movie from M. Night Shyamalan since Signs, creepy, leaving you guessing, its classic Shyamalan and personally I loved every second of it. I will warn you though if your one to get queasy at the sight of blood just look away when the guy turns on the lawn mower... that one made even me squirm!

The Happening is available right now on DVD and you can pick up your copy at Amazon!

I have three copies of The Happening to give away to my readers!!

I have been wanting to see this one. Looks eerily good. =D

I love horror movies and thrillers, so it's hard to pick just one favorite. I'd probably have to say that one of my all time favorites though is Dawn of the Dead.

Thanks!

I don't like horror movies. Gives me too many nightmares. I liked Signs alot. I thought of it before I read your Newsletter in whole. I really want to see the Happening. I think it's scarry but not horror scary. My husband has not seen Signs yet. It's on our Netflix list. One horror movie I did like was Stephen Kings Langoliers. If you have not seen it you got to see it. I seen the Lawnmower Man too.

My favorite horror film has to be Rosemary's Baby, because it is just a very horrifying movie, and it's relatable in every aspect. From the amazing performances, to the eerily brilliant direction, to that really chilling music score, the movie is just one of the best.

This will age me but the one that scared me the most was when I was really young and it was called "The Incredible Shrinking Man" This man was on his boat and went thru a mist and they he began shrinking. He got really small and was in the basement or something and fought a spider with a sewing needle--it was really scary for an 8 year old!
