Is she still sleeping?

Today is a big day, one of my favorite childhood movies has been totally redone and re-released!!

Can you believe its been 50 years since the childhood classic Sleeping Beauty was originally released? For a limited time you can own Sleeping Beauty in its new completely restored and upgraded version Sleeping Beauty the 50th Anniversary Edition. This marks a new beginning for Sleeping Beauty as the film has been totally redone in high definition and the audio massively upgraded. It's actually hard to believe that the film was originally drawn in 1959 as cartoons seems so primitive back then compared to the new incredibly crisp cartoons of today.

Classically you might think of Sleeping Beauty as a little girl's movie but there was so much about the movie that I forgot as I'm fairly certain the last time I watched Sleeping Beauty was in my early teens. Boys or girls aside who can resist a story of a beautiful princess cursed by an evil fairy to die a terrible death until a good fairy helps unravel the curse by at least downplaying the death part to sleeping eternally until your true love comes along. It's actually kind of romantic don't you think? Sadly my luck I'd be sleeping an awfully long time. heh.

My favorite part about Sleeping Beauty is the evil fairy Maleficent who just happens to be my favorite disney villain of all time. She is particularly creepy as a "evil witch" but seeing her turn into her alter ego Maleficent the dragon had to been terrifying to children at its originally release. Regardless being the mean mommy I am, I actually have a huge maleficent plush sitting in Connor's room. Thus far it does not seem to freak him out and ironically the kid loves "scary" things, it makes his Halloween loving mommy pretty darn proud. Every dragon needs a heroic prince to come and slay them to save the day and Sleeping Beauty does not disappoint!

I'm still just blown away at how great the new edition looks. Growing up I loved Sleeping Beauty but it was painfully obvious that it was very out of date even then compared to the cartoons I watched. Though the basic animations are still the same in the new Sleeping Beauty the colors are vastly improved and the soundtrack really finally gives you everything its got with its spanky new 5.1 surround sound and full widescreen 2:55:1 you will really see, and I do mean really see, things you never saw before in Sleeping Beauty. I know I'm excited!

Sleeping Beauty
is available right now on Amazon!

I have three copies of Sleeping Beauty to give away to my readers!

This one and the Little Mermaid are my favorites. If I don't win I'll have to shoot the lock off my wallet and buy a copy for my baby :-) Sleeping Beauty is special to me because I used to dance around the kitchen with my dad to the waltz.

How great is it to have SO many movies to pick from, huh?? Hmmm..this one is really tough. If I were on a desert island and only had ONE movie...which one would I want to watch-OVER and OVER again (sounds sort of like living with a three year old, hmmm??) LOL! Anyway...I think I would pick Snow White (although Lady and the Tramp was almost the winner but just for sentimental reasons!!)

Thanks for running such a great contest:) and good luck to all
