Math is my worst subject!

Math has always been my Achilles heel. I've struggled my entire life with math from very simple math to calculus I never need to be reminded at how bad I am at math when I find myself counting simple addition or subtraction on my fingers. I dread helping Connor with his math homework and I pray that he didn't inherit my lack of math skills.

Sound Science has a new cd set out that claims to help babies learn math skills before they can even talk. How is this even possible? I'm not even sure how its not possible as Connor most certainly is learning sign language from DVDs without being able to say the same words he is signing. Sounds far fetched I know but there is research to back up the fact introducing infants to classical music increases their learning ability later on. Regardless if this is true or not I've been playing Connor classical musical from the beginning and its a great way to calm him minus any learning bonuses it may have on him later.

When I first received the Music...is Math series of cds from Sound Science I was anxious to try them out. The set comes with four cds based on age and is designed to be played in the background no matter what your doing. Though Connor is much older than the first cd I started out with cd one and played each cd over a series of a week until we got to the third cd which is in his age range. Basically the first cd starts out as a series of simple tones and each cd afterwards ads a more complex rhythm. It very neutral and non distracting so you really can listen to it no matter what you have going on. I like to play it in the car and during quiet time. The whole series is also great for nap time.

Speaking of nap time Sound Science offers one of my favorite nap time cds of all time. SoundSleep is not your typical lullabies cd. It combines soothing music with womb sounds which equals one very asleep baby and if your not careful a very asleep mommy too. It's really surprisingly relaxing no matter how old you are... do you remeber laying on your parent's chest and listening to their heart? It reminds me of that feeling but portable and combined with music.

Both SoundSleep and Music...is Math is available directly from Sound Science.

I'm giving away my copy of Music...is Math to one lucky reader!
