This holiday season seems to be Dinosaur crazy! The Dinosaur King - The Adventure Begins is the perfect series for that dinosaur crazed kids of yours!
Actually brought to us by Sega and the makers of Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! it bears an unmistakable resemblance to the two. Actually I hate to say it but it really reminds me of a cross of the two. There is tons of humorous antics that reminds me a bit of Pokemon, but its built to sell a card game with the same name much like Yu-Gi-Oh! so in many ways its an extension of the toys in the same way Yu-Gi-Oh was. Don't get me wrong Pokemon had the same end goal but it was much less obvious.
I can't help to think though with all the great dinosaur toys being released for the holiday season that the makers of the Dinosaur King had quite possibly the best timing that could be imagined and that in intself is brilliant. Though my favorite kids TV show of all time was built to sell toys, Transformers, it seems these days they are getting downright aggressive with it as it seems a bit more obvious these days, or maybe I'm just getting older. heh.
All in all its actually a good show even if I am a bit cranky about its marketing tactics. I only say that as I know within a few years it will be working on my own little man who will most likely inherit my favorite phrase as a child "I want that!". heh. The D-Team (aka the Dinosaur Team's) bickering is actually hilarious to watch and they seem to always be getting themselves in trouble. If you play the game, there is an exclusive card included with the DVD too!

What a great contest! As a mom who works in a related field, I love that this show teaches kids about Paleontology and prehistoric life. My kids would dig this!

What I like best about it is that it sounds like a show that would really entertain my son for awhile while I get stuff done. He already loves Pokemon and this sounds like the same kind of premise.
