Shining Stars are not just stuffed animals!

Shining Stars are not your typical plush friends. Up till recently I had kept walking past those Shining Stars displays in the mall thinking they were just some sort of collectible stuffed animal, and though they are.. they are so much more than that.

The first thing I want to mention is the fact that with each Shining Star purchase you make you get to register a star with the International Star Registry. I think that's pretty cool alone. That's not all though, included with each Shining Star is a secret code that allow the child access to their very own little Shining Star world online.

With Shining Stars online children are given a safe online place where they can play games, collect star points, and interact with their Shining Star friend in a whole new way. The best part and what makes me respect this toy most is the fact that as your child plays online games and collects his or her daily star points, those points may then be donated to the Starlight Starbright foundation which helps sick children and their families through extended hospital stays which can be terrifying to a young child and even more scary to their parents. Including providing children with PCs during their hospital stays which gives them not only entertainment, but access to education, and just plain socializing as if you have ever had to stay in a hospital for more than 24 hours you will find the entire experience incredibly lonely especially for a child.

If your looking for a great gift idea for the 4th of July or just something special that may express how you feel about this country. Shining Stars just released a special edition Eagle that is sporting a pretty classy patriotic top hat. He would be the perfect gift for the 4th of July, for a child of a soldier overseas, or even just for no reason at all! Along with the Eagle, Shining Stars come in an assortment of great plush. Personally my favorites are the Dragon and the Pegasus, but I just saw that there was a super special edition ET released back in April through Universal Studios. Check out the information here on how to order him! I want one SO bad!

Shining Stars are available at most toy stores as well as on Amazon!

Shining Stars has provided us with an Eagle to give away to one of our readers!

My daughter said, "Oh cool! You get to name a star for the registry!!" She loves the patriotic eagle which is fitting since her daddy is serving overseas in the sandbox. I admit that I love the monkey with a heart; too cute!

I didn't realize these little guys were so special. I too thought they were just stuffed animals. lol!

Wow, SOOO many of the Shining Star critters are TOO cute. Can I make a wish list of them? The Yellow lab, the dragon, the monkey, the panda, the orange tabby cat, the frog, the cow, the honey bear, the brown bear, the reindeer... Ha - they are ALL so stinkin' cute.

It's wonderful that it can help the the Starlight Starbright foundation via points.

Anyway - enter me, please.

I love this idea. I bought the owl after the birth of my new nephew. What kid wouldn't want to know that there is a star named after them? I liked the owl only because it's a night creature when the stars come out.

WOW...I'VE NEVER BEEN A "FIRST COMMENTER" BEFORE...HEHEHE

Anyways...going through the website was easy. I read their about us page and was pretty impressed with their thinking. I love the registery aspect and how they can make people "stars" at any age. The idea behind it is very clever (not unique) but clever none the less. I could not afford take any part of that at this point but it will be in my favorites so when I do decide to do this for my children. It's a great idea.

Cute contest giveaway!!!

My father in law bought a shining star for our son. I tried to explain, but he didn't get it and threw the tags away. I'm sure that won't be the last time I have to dig through the trash for my kids.

How much fun to give your child a star named after them!
This could start a lifelong interest in astronomy as they chart the movement of their star!

OMG! I didn't know they'd come out with an eagle! My daughter has two Shining Stars....the cow and frog..and she absolutely loves playing on the Shining Stars website! I like it too because it's such a safe site for her to visit. There's only prechosen words and phrases for chat and messaging and tons of fun games to play to earn points and trophies. If anyone out there posting hasn't gotten a Shing Star for their child, I suggest you do so! The best part is, your child gets to choose and name a real star in the International Star Registry, complete with certificate! Thanks so much for the incredible giveaway and telling other parents how cool Shining Stars are.
