Movie Night : Home Improvement: The Complete Eight Season

I'd make a bet all of you at some point have watched Home Improvement, and though I at times have refused to admit it, I loved that show. Something about the dad and all his many many construction projects gone bad reminded me a bit of my own dad. Though I can't say my dad ever blew anything up or souped up the toaster he always had the best sense of humor while I was growing up and he was known to play some pretty good practical jokes.

Needless to say I hate to admit it but I think I've actually seen every episode of Home Improvement at least 10 times.. you know its a problem when you start repeating the lines. You know ironically I've never seen the last two episodes. I did see the third to the last episode where Jill gets a job offer in Indiana, but never saw the outcome. It's about time I did! I've always wondered if in the final episode they finally show Wilson's face?! I guess I should stop writing and go find out.

Here is the press release :

When my son was little he loved Bob the Builder. In the last year he's discovered Home Improvement. (He's 8) He laughs and laughs at the show...it cracks me up!

To tell you how much he loves the show, he's already decided who he is going to be for Halloween. Tim the Tool Man Taylor. He's going to wear his suit, with the tool belt, then remember the episode where he gets the table glued to his head. Yes, THAT is what Johnny wants to do.

Great giveaway!

My children and I still watch reruns of Home Improvement. I think the mom is a realistic mother with a couple of kids and a husband. Her thinking is right-on and her sympathy towards others is good to see. My kids like the father, with his antics and wisecracks. It's a good family show.

Oh, I just love this show. I watch it all the time. What I like about it is that it's a Family show. The show is funny without being rude. Love to own it.

What I liked most about the series was that no matter what happened to tear them apart (usually Tim's misguided efforts), the family always came back together.

I liked this show as a kid and always watched it after school. Great giveaway, thanks!

Am I truly the first?!! That's never happened before! Especially here :)

I love this serial for its humor and the way the characters grow as in a normal family. None of your cutesy stuff there. They fight, they laugh and they share ... somethings :) I love it a LOT, even though I've only ever seen re-runs of it. Somehow I seems to have missed the entire final season. I'd love to win it and and watch it with my family!

My entire family watched Home Improvements together every Tuesday night when it was on the air, it's one of my favorite memories from childhood. The last season aired during my senior year in high school, so it was made the show even more sentimental to me. My mom and I still quote lines from the show constantly- some of our favorites are from the episode where Al's popularity eclipses Tim's and he's doing all the publicity gigs, including a guest spot in a movie of the week with Morgan Fairchild. Every time anyone says "Al's going to be in a movie with Morgan Fairchild," someone else says, "Morgan Fairchild? I LOVE her!" We also loved how the episodes always ended with the bloopers from that show, which usually featured Tim Allen's obnoxious, honking laugh as they all mess up their lines.

"More Power!"

Seriously, the series was a pretty classic one and very family-friendly. The fact that Tim was pretty much that goofy, but caring dad was even better. He tried to do things right and wasn't a horrible example of a dad. Still a little stereotypical of the "dads are always silly or to be laughed at" but not too bad.

Blogger said...

I used to watch this and then talk about it with my coworkers the next day...we always got a kick out of this show, probably especially since it was based in Detroit, my home town.

Now, as a parent, my 13 year old son watches it on Nick...and my 4 year old, too, when he stays up late (ugh! lol)...they love love love this show...and it is just kind of cool to see them laughing at things I used to (and still) laugh at!

So, I came across this blog because I'm currently looking into purchasing all six seasons (3-8) that my boyfriend doesn't have for his 21st birthday. When we started dating, we would sit on the couch in my dorm or his room to watch Home Improvement on Nick at Nite. He has three roommates, all of whom dislike the show and make fun of him for owning the first two seasons. I, on the other hand, LOVE the show and grew up watching it with my older brother.

Chris (the boyfriend) and I still watch the show together and laugh at how similar our relationship is to Jill and Tim's.

The show is excellent. The accidents (his own coffee mug at the hospital-- it's a sign!), the characters (my personal favorite being Randy-- JTT was such a stud!), the relationships (not just Jill and Tim-- but how about Tim and Al's or Tim and Randy's relationship!!!), and the bloopers at the end always made me laugh the hardest.

What an excellent, excellent show!
