Bluray DVD Review - The Book of Eli

Can you imagine a world so destroyed that not only are people resorting to eating one another but even the idea of religion is lost in history? I really said I was done with apocalyptic movies as if you really want to scare the crap out of me just suggest that the world may end in my son's lifetime. Just the thought makes Freddy seem like a children's bedtime story. However, The Book Of Eli makes for a big twist on an otherwise, at least in my opinion, lately overdone theme.

Eli, aka Denzel Washington, comes off as a serious bad ass with a sword in this movie. Cutting down people left and right who even consider touching his precious book. A book he is totally ready to set his life on the life for, a book that has sent him on a quest, a book that others are willing to kill him for. All along you have no clue what exactly this book is, but people certainly want it and Eli is willing to risk everything for it.

The bluray version of The Book of Eli is stunning even though the scenery is a virtual wasteland. The lighting is amazing and the sound quality is super crisp. Everything is dry, barren, and one big rock in Eli's post-apocalyptic world. Not exactly the sort of world I want my son's growing up in, so lets hope all these predictions are wrong. Personally my version of perfection is a grass field with a few horses and a big blue open sky up ahead. The sky in The Book Of Eli even looks grey. Though it certainly sets the tone. I will note that the Bluray version comes with both the bluray copy, a standard dvd copy, and a digital copy so your covered no matter how you wish to watch.

The Book of Eli has a surprise ending that will bring a whole new meaning to the film itself. Though I started to suspect towards the end what exactly that was.. the twist I never even remotely suspected though there were some moments of foreshadowing. I hate to be so vague but seriously it's one of those movies you will just appreciate more if you don't dig for answers and just watch it through. Its one of those movies that has a little something for everyone, action for the guys and a suspenseful ending for the girls!

The Book of Eli is available right now, I highly recommend the bluray version, and you can pick yours up on Amazon!

I love this movie! I don't buy very many movies because we rarely watch movies a second time but I did purchase this one. My parents came over and watched it with us just the other day. They loved it as well and my Mom generally dislikes action movies. Your right you would never guess some of the things that they allude to throughout the movie. Having watched it for the second time I caught a lot of things I missed. Great movie! Wish I had seen it in the theater but I was pregnant and on bed rest with my Little Bit. I bet it was great on the big screen.

Yep, the hubster would like the action. As a Christian these types of movies don't scare me, so I just watch them for the entertainment factor, no what if or even perhaps there's a fact here or there factor.
