Welcome to Cranford.. British TV and the 1800 society at its finest.

I really wasn't sure when I signed up for the review of Cranford if I would like it or not. Cranford: The Collection turned out to be a really great show. Cranford reminds me a bit, and don't throw apples at me on this one, but the 1800s version of Desperate Housewives (minus the nudity, sex scandals and other modern drama). Cranford is a small town, which centers heavily around the drama brewing between the women of the town. Who is dating who, which men are available, and the affairs of love are big topics of gossip with the women of Cranford.

Much of the storyline involves the very hansom and single Dr. Harrison as well as his love interest Sophy. You'd think the way the women react, foaming at the mouth practically, to Dr. Harrison he was some sort of celebrity catch. heh. Actually it's all really humorous to watch and the women remind me a bit of the gossiping that my Grandmother and her friends tend to do in her small town.  All in all if your into period dramas or grew up watching shows like Anne of Green Gables like I did you will really enjoy Cranford: The Collection.

This is actually a two disc set that includes the original series as well as Return to Cranford which I'll be reviewing separately. It's a great way to start off viewing Cranford as you get the entire collection or the perfect gift for a Cranford fan. Cranford: The Collection is available right now on DVD and you can pick up yours on Amazon!
