This day only comes once a year.

Only once a year we have Friday The 13th and ever since Jason Voorhees started haunting our dreams and what better way to start celebrating the 13th than a good gory horror movie?

Friday the 13th has always been one of my all time "scariest" horror movie series. Much like my other two childhood nightmares, Chucky and Freddy, the scary part about Jason is the fact that he seems to eternally live on no matter what you do to him. Ugg there is just something about a bad guy that wont die that never fails to creep me out. Unlike Chucky and Freddy, Jason's scare factor is all about the surprise. When I was in high school I think most of the boys used Jason as away to get girls to make out with them as there is just something about Friday The 13th movies that leave you crawling into the lap of the person next to you.

Friday The 13th Part 2 pretty much picks up where the first movie stopped a little while down the line. Though I think we all seem to expect that sequels will not be as good as the first, especially when it comes to horror, there are alot of positive things ot be said about Friday The 13th Part 2. For one when I said that gore was not a big factor in the first movie it seems that someone told the directors that as well as Friday The 13th Part 2 starts Jason down the road of being a full fledged blood and guts slasher movie. I'm fairly positive they ordered the fake blood by the tub full for this one.

I'm not sure 80s horror movies were never really known for their extensive plot lines but something about Friday The 13th Part 2 falls short of the originals story. I think since we already for the most part know Jason's story there is not a ton of background info to be had in the second part and it seems that most of the budget went into the gore and special effects department. What we lack in plot we certainly gain in sound track and blood and guts. Though otherwise the storyline is pretty much the same.. Jason lurking in the shadows killing people anytime he gets a chance. It may just be possible he is a little pissed off about his mother?

The extra features are pretty cool, on the first Friday The 13th Uncut release there was a set of extra features called The Lost Takes of Camp Blood Part 1, well on the second DVD you can see a continuation of that mini series and its neat to see that continued on.

Friday The 13th Part 2
is available right now on dvd and you can get your copy on Amazon!

When I was little, I was changing the channels on Halloween when I came across Nightmare on Elm Street. I saw the part where Johnny Depp's character was being killed. I had nightmares for a long time!

"Evil Dead" spooked me silly. There's a scene where the girl who is possessed is in the cellar. The rest of her friends chain down the trap door in the house to keep her down there and she's laughing this evil, maniacal laugh. She can raise the door a few inches to peek out and then she stabs one of her friends through the hand with a pencil. I can duplicate her laugh and it scares my husband every time.

The original "Halloween" still gives me nightmares, but not only because of the eerie/chill factor, but also because of the suspense, and that famous piano score. Also, it terrifies you without the excessive use of blood/gore that can sometimes flaw a horror movie.

Borderland scared the crap out of me. It is based on a true story to boot. Three american best buds take a vacation to Mexico where they become victims of a machete-wielding cult. The acts of violence inflicted on these poor guys(and others) is unimaginable. That movie was so soul-disturbing that I vowed to never watch it again. And I haven't!

When I was much younger (probably too young) I saw The Amityville Horror. The scene where the little girl sees the glowing eyes outside her window scared the heck out of me. For almost two years I would not look out the window of our house at night because I was terrified that I was going to see those glowing eyes staring back at me. Thank you for the chance to win.

The scariest movies to me are the ones that are the most real. Guys with masks on or creatures and aliens aren't as scary to me as say a serial rapist or kidnapper.
