Everyone was Kung Fu Fighting!

I've been waiting to see Kung Fu Panda from the moment it was released in the theater. I had to wait a little longer than I wanted but believe me it was worth it! At first the thought of a kung fu fighting panda just didn't seem funny and I was not so interested until I saw my first trailer. With a cast that includes Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, David Cross and Dustan Hoffman I figured there had to be more to it.

Everyone dreams to be something that they may or may not be able to do. For me I've dreamed for as long as I can remember and possibly even longer than that to be a famous horse trainer or even just to own a successful horse training facility. I came pretty close at one point to at least realizing the first half of my dream but thanks to a pretty bad scare I let my dream go and that whole issue of how much a farm actually costs. So I guess if a 4'10 girl can dream to train huge thoroughbreds and do pretty good its not so far off that a big panda could do kung fu? heh.

Po our panda hero starts off life as a lowly worker in his father's noodle shop but all he dreams about is to be a famous kung fu warrior like the Furious Five. When they Annice that the Dragon Warrior is to be chosen, only the most powerful kung fu master ever, Po has to go watch but sadly he doesn't make it in time and finds himself locked out of the arena. With a little luck, help of some fireworks, and really what is half an accident Po finds himself in the middle of the arena and to his and everyone elses surprise he is named the Dragon Warrior. Mind you Po has never done any Kung Fu, EVER, in his life.

With the ultimate evil kung fu master escapes from his prison Po and his new classmates and Master have to accept that Po may or may not be the Dragon Warrior but they have to believe. Even Po has a hard time believing in himself. I mean how can a huge flabby panda who can't even make it through the training gauntlet defeat the ultimate kung fu warrior? It's really a cute tale of the unexpected and acceptance.

You learn to love the entire cast of Kung Fu Panda but the problem is the story mostly revolves around Po's journey to becoming the Dragon Warrior. So many questions are left unanswered like why Po's father is a duck and not a panda, what happens to Po after he is the Dragon Warrior. The story of each of the Furious Five and basically everything you wondered and more after watching Kung Fu Panda. The story itself is good though and a wonderful addition to the movie but the real fun of The Secrets of the Furious Five is the extra features. It includes a feature on how to do the panda dance as well as how to do some of the kung fu moves (ok.. not really its actually a dance routine but its fun!). You can only get The Secrets of the Furious Five if you buy the gift pack that includes both Kung Fu Panda and The Secrets of the Furious Five together.

You can get your Kung Fu Panda and The Secrets of the Furious Five gift pack on Amazon right now!

I have three Kung Fu Panda and the Secrets of the Furious Five gift packs to give away to three lucky readers!!! :)

I've really been wanting to see this one! My son is really into Kung Fu, already at age 2 1/2. That's because his daddy does Tai Chi. The kid even has an outfit! He'd go nuts about this.

I collected pandas when I was younger, so I've been waiting to see this since they first started advertising it.

We have it here right now - borrowed from a friend - I guess I should watch it before we have to return it.

Kung Fu Panda was an awesome movie, and it's one that my family can't wait to get. My husband is a black belt in kung fu and actually has his own kwoon [aka school], so I think this is such an appropriate movie for us. Loved the training scenes with Po, Shifu, and the chopsticks. Hilarious!

My favorite part of the movie was at the end when Po is fighting Tai Lung. It's my favorite part because it's my sons favorite part, and he laughs and laughs more hysterically than I usually hear him laugh (esp when Tai Lung bites his own tail and sounds like a kitten)... It's infectious. =)

My son is in love with this movie! I love it too because it has so many good messages in it. Even though the chubby Panda doesn't seem like a likely candidate for the Dragon Warrior, he surprises the viewers and himself with his hidden ability. Maybe that chubbiness wasn't all bad after all?!
