Who needs to send their pictures off to be printed?

We did a post awhile back about the HP A526 and have been loving the convince of being able to print our photos online. We even printed our own birthday invitations and thank you cards with the A526. The only issue has always been that it only prints 4x6 prints and I end up having to send my 5x7 photos out. Its so rare that I print anything larger than a 5x7 but usually if I do its normally for a gift so those I send out for professional printing anyways.

I almost had a heart attack when I heard that the new A536 would print not only the 4x6 photos, but 5x7s, and even 4x12s. (All of which can be printed without a computer except for the 4x12s!)

In comparison the A526 and the A536 are both great home picture printing options, both are totally portable, both offer 4x6 and 4x12 prints.. but there are some major diffrences as well. The A530 is a massive upgrade with the ability to print 5x7 prints as well as having a truely flip up LCD screen instead of a fixed screen. The coolest upgrade is the one that is the least obvious. The A530 has built in internal memory and when you hook it up to any computer it installs its own software. No cd to bring with you.. no reason to download drivers. They are all there right on the printer the moment you hook up the usb cord. That really brings a whole new aspect to the ability to the fact that you really can take you printer everywhere and hook it up to any available computer to edit and print photos. Otherwise the most obvious change you will see is that the A530 is a bit wider and a tiny bit heavier than the A526 but it has to be to print the 5x6s.

You know I have always been a bit skeptical about photo printers. Back when they were first popular it was a neat option but sometimes the colors ran and the print quality was acceptable but still obvious that it was not a photo lab print. These days and especially with the A536 side by side with my professionally printed photos there is absolutely no way to tell with the naked eye which one is the professional print and which one I printed at home. Ironically I just recently had some photos taken at a major photo chain which prints them there while you wait and I took the same photos home on CD and printed out a few extras to give to family and the ones I printed at home were far nicer than the ones I had printed at the photo place itself! I actually ended up giving away my originals and kept the ones I printed for myself.

If your looking for something a little diffrent, you can edit your photos without ever having to hook the A536 to your computer. That even includes adding designer tints or changing your pictures to black and white. I just printed the cutest picture of Connor in his new super hero cape in a metallic overlay and it came out really neat!

The best selling point about the A536? Well thats really simple, though its not available yet for sale when it is its said to be priced at around $99 which is super super cheap for all those options! Talk about a perfect gift for the grandparents!

I am so excited about the A536 that I decided this would be a perfect time to give away our A526 that we tested a few months ago.

The print quality on this looks amazing (4800 x 1200 dpi). I'd print out a ton of pictures of my 3-yr old twins and maybe finally put them in a nice album!

Thanks,

I like that the 536 is compatible with both Windows and Mac - so it is great for couples with mixed preferences!

If I won the 526, I woud print mostly nature photos - I use them as postcards. Or I would give it to my Mom, who would use it to print family photos.

Hi fellow momblogger! I like the fact that the A536 prints so quickly and that I can use it with my Mac. If I had the A526 I would print more photos of my little one. I have tons of photos on my computer but I haven't done anything with them yet, it might help me jumpstart my scrapbooking!

Wow, this seems so much better than all those other photo printers. Besides being able to print different sizes (a definite plus), I also like the fact that you can edit pictures without hooking up to a computer. Especially since Kiddo's grandparents are still happily computer-free and this will help tremendously when we go visit them.

I love that it has a GREAT dpi print out and that it prints fast. Much faster then my regular printer that is for sure.

I would print out the zillion pictures of my kids that are sitting on discs and on my hard drive waiting for me to upload them all to Walmart or CVS and have copies made. I would certainly be much quicker to print out picture immediatly if I had a great photo printer then I am when they pile up dozens (if not more) at a time on my hard drive and burned on CD's.

The print quality and print speed definitly sound appealing to me, I mean, if your going to take the time to print out all those special pictures of your little one(s) you want them to be worth perfect. I would absolutley use it to print out tons (and I do mean TONS)of pics of my sweet baby girl!

Thanks for the contest. I just found your blog thru "mommyology".

I'm not really up on all the technical lingo for the a536 but I do know that 27 seconds to print is fast, Energy Star Rated is going to save me money and it's under a 100 bucks to begin with! Your review filled in the blanks. Your a526 would alot me to print from home thus saving me time, gas and money. Wonderful.

PS said...

Energy Star! YAY!! I didn't even know that printers could get that rating!!

ISUamanda said...

I like the price and speed of the 536. We would print out pictures of the boy to send to his greatgrandparents who don't have computers and really appreciate actual photos!

djolsen said...

We have hauled ourselves into the 21st century and bought a camera and have started taking pictures of our new lifestyle (retirement).
I had no idea what a printer could do until I saw your blog. I would have so much fun. Well, we would.
I hate standing at Walmarts not knowing how to work their machine.

What a great price! I've always thought of photo printers (at least good ones) as being totally out of my price range. I'd love to actually get the past 5 1/2 yrs of kid pictures printed & into albums, but the cost of sending all those pictures off to be printed makes me keep putting it off.

Jen D. said...

I like how quickly the a526 prints as well as not having to be directly connected to a computer. This makes portability easier. I would probably print more photos at home and actually get more scrapbook pages completed that way.

The sprint speed would be great in my house. Always on the go and when I need that quick picture of a vacation memory to show people the kids smiles, this would be great.

We have several HP products and love them all. A printer is not one of them. This is great that it prints 5x7 too. I love it

Beth Anderson said...

Oh for me it's all about the price! I have purchased several different photo printers and so far my face is still buried in the instruction manuals. Thanks for this opportunity!

Can't beat how fast those prints come out--wow! I'm scared about how much $$ I'd spend on photo paper! Would love to win...

The printing speed is super fast, the quality of the images sounds crystal clear and this would just be a lifesaver instead of having to run up to my local one hour photo stop! Another plus about not needing to hook up to the computer too!

Well, the price is great,it prints all the important sizes, don't need it hooked to a computer. Now, if it would only get it's ink color free by magically sucking it out of the color spectrum by separating wave lenths like a rainbow!

I love the size. It can easily be stored and has the ability to be wireless - excellent to keep away from the kids. I would use mine to print photos of my boys for our family.

Thanks for the amazing giveaway :)
