Movie Night : Indiana Jones the Adventure Collection

I'm a child of the Indiana Jones movies.. between the Indiana Jones Movies, Goonies, and Star Wars you can pretty much sum up my childhood movie going experiences. I wonder what my son will remember growing up.. Harry Potter?

Connor dad and I actually sat down while I was pregnant and discussed important movies that Connor had to have growing up.. Indiana Jones ironically was the one we both screamed first. Every little kid, I don't care if your a boy or a girl, dreams of treasure and treasure hunting growing up and there is just something about the quirky humor and great adventure the Indiana Jones series has to offer. Its fun and dangerous without going over the top or going too far into those adult areas that makes it unsutiable as a family staple. Plus I think all the mom's out there will agree Harissan Ford was pretty darn yummy back in the day. My first little girl crush was actually for Indiana Jones (back before I realized movies were just actors.. lol).

Included in the Indiana Jones - The Adventure Collection is of course the three Indiana Jones movies to date : Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Plus a whole treasure trove of special features and an awesome movie introduction from Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.

Some of the new special features are pretty entertaining, I especially love the "creepy crawlies" feature which shows you how some of the animals were used on the set (aka snakes, bugs, rats, oh my). I honestly never thought of it up till now but sign me up for rat wrangling, I'm 100% sure I could handle that task.

All in all its a must have collection for either the experienced adventurer or new adventurers just starting out in their Indiana Jones viewing. I can't wait till Connor is just a bit older so he can really appreciate these movies. I know they say that DVDs are hard to "wear out" but I'll make a bet if he loves Indiana Jones as much as I do he will have the entire set memorized front to back by the time he is five.

Indiana Jones - The Adventure Collection is due to release on May 13th. You can pre-order your set right now on Amazon or with any major DVD retailer.

My hubby and I would love this. Our favorite is Raides of the Lost Ark. I have memories of watching it when I was younger, the ball rolling, jumping from stone to stone and who hasn't played pretend of the grabbing the idol thing and putting a bag in it's place? Hee, hee! We just borrowed my hubby's dad's VHS collection and we need our own! =)

I haven't seen the movies in awhile so I have them all confused in my head, but I think I liked Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark the best. Is that the one where Indiana's dad is a main character?

The Temple of Doom one scared me as a kid. I just remember the scary sacrifice scene and the part where they're served monkey brain soup.

My husband would love it if I won this set. He's a fan of this type of movie.

I liked Raiders of the Lost Ark. It was just a great adventure story. Really one of a kind back then. And of course it introduced me to Harrison Ford, who is so great in all the Indiana Jones movies. Its been many, many years since I have seen them. I cant wait to watch them again and then check out this new one coming out soon.

My favorite is Raiders of the Lost Ark. I saw it in the theatres the year it came out.

I can hardly wait for the new one. Pity Sean Connery retired, he would have been the cherry on top.

Triva Time
What 80's TV star had to turn down the role of Indiana Jones because he was committed to a TV show?

My favorite was the last crusade. Ford and Connery had such great chemistry as father and son. It also had the best plot line of the three.

I think Raiders set the scene for all to follow. But I love the references, flashbacks-forwards-asides with nods to the other movies. Besides, I really need this set. An ex-girlfriend "gave" me the set for xmas a few years ago. When we broke up, she made sure to get all of her stuff from my place but wouldn't let me get my stuff from her.

Gotta go with Raiders, mainly because our principal showed it to us when I was maybe in 3rd grade (he claimed later he'd forgotten how graphic it was). Up to that point, the scariest thing I'd ever seen was "Wizard of Oz," so I was pretty freaked out with the big guy got chopped up by the airplane propeller, and everyone got their faces melted off. I think I had nightmares from it, but it sure made an impression.

This is hard. I'm torn between Raiders of the Lost Ark and the Last Crusade. Both were excellent. Both had magnificent writing, great characters, wonderful storylines. Sean Connery may tilt my vote to Last Crusade, though.

I have never seen the Indiana Jones movies and people just can't believe it. Everyone says I have to watch them. So I would like to see all of them in a row. I also plan to watch Star Wars like that since I have never seen any of those either.

I actually have only seen one of the movies all the way through and I'm not sure which one it was. But, my husband LOVES them and wants me to see them so we can go see the new one in the theatre.

When I was a little girl I looked forward to every new Star Wars and Indiana Jones movie.
My favorite Indy movie was Temple of Doom. Thank you for the contest.
Harrison Ford is a stone cold fox. :)

I love them all but favorite is Raiders of Lost Ark because of the scene of power emitted from the ark and people melt.

The Temple of Doom. It was one of the first PG-13 movies and I felt all grown up being allowed to see it.

I have never seen the films all the way through. I would like to see the Temple of Doom the most.

I'm kind of surprised anyone has picked a favorite other than The Last Crusade! I thought everyone knew that it is the far superior movie! ;-)

Thanks for the contest (my first to enter on your blog). This is one of the DVD sets in our house that actually belongs to our teenager and has recently gone away with him to college. We really miss having our own copy!

Got my fingers and toes crossed!

Great movies I'd love to own.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is my favorite. I remember when I first saw it. When they opened the chest and all the ghost/demons flew out, it scared the crap out of me :) I think of being a child in the 80's every time I watch it again.

My favorite is the Last Crusade because I love Sean Connery!

"Raiders of the Lost Ark"; it had an exhiliration, best exemplified by that big stone ball rolling during the first few minutes. I can remember the summer I first saw it at the Golf Mill Theaters and going back posthaste to see it again with others.

the first one is the best

Raiders of the Lost Ark. I liked the final scene as they wheeled the ark into storage. It just feels like what we do w/ most artifacts ... hide them away.

My favorite is the first one: Raiders of the Lost Ark. It was unlike anything I had ever seen at the time and was the most action filled and adventurous fun ride!

I have never seen Indiana Jones, which I admit is a shame, but I have been making desperate attempts at catching up on movie classics. I broke my bank when I rented The Godfather 1 and 2 to watch for the first time, and then watched them so often I forgot to return them. Help on my quest for classics would be appreciated greatly :)
Indiana Jones was next on my list. I would most like to see Raiders of the Lost Ark, because where best to start than the beginning?

My favorite has to be Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Sean Connery as Indiana's dad was such a great addition to an already excellent film.

i remember seeing these movies when i was a little kid, so i don't really remember all of it, but i know i'd probably like the one with the melting Nazis, hahaha! they should have melting Nazis on the ride at Disneyland, i think that would be good, ;)

Raiders of the Lost Ark was astounding to me. Besides the fact that it introduced an entirely new level of action movie, it also introduced us to the wonderful character of Indiana Jones. He was never more charming or funny as he was in the first of the series.

The Temple of Doom is my favorite because of the snakes, eyeball soup, and chilled monkey brains that are served for dinner. :)

Honestly, not an Indiana Jones fan. I do remember the temple of doom, but that's about it. I'd love to win this for my hubby who's a huge Indiana Jones fan.
