Cleaning Review : Seventh Generation Cleaners

On our quest to make Connor's life a bit more chemical free we received some sample products from Seventh Generation along with the diapers we reviewed not long ago.

Seventh Generation
makes a whole line of safe, non toxic, non petroleum based cleaners that are not just healthier for you but biodegradable so they wont kill all the fishies either if they go down the drain.

We have been using the Seventh Generation Free and Clear all purpose cleaner on virtually every surface of our house (other than the wood surfaces) and its wonderful. It smells great and I am not AS concerned when Connor licks the top of the table (sadly this happens more times a day than I'd like to admit...) . We did not try it on our wood products as the webpage says not for use on hardwood so better safe than sorry. I did use it on every surface of my kitchen and bathroom and it cleans as well as other chemical based kitchen cleaners I have used and it leaves a much better smell. I hate chemical smells and this leaves an slightly citrus smell that actually reminds me more of a candle vs a cleaner. It was successful on getting baked on gook off my range top after only two tries (let it sit a few minutes each try) which is VERY impressive for an organic cleaner.

Seventh Generation also makes an entire line of laundry detergents... we have been using the Blue Eucalyptus & Lavender as well as the Baby Formula for over a week now and both have performed very well. I actually love the light sent the Eucalyptus & Lavender leaves on my laundry and though I haven't gotten around to any dog laundry lately it did great on my clothes as well as Connor's. Both the Baby and regular laundry detergents are HE compatible and low sudsing. Though I did use a pretreatment on Connor's clothes this week as he has had AWFUL diarrhea for almost two weeks now (thank you flu virus) his clothes came out perfectly clean which was amazing as far as I'm concerned as I was convinced he had ruined every single pair of pjs he had.. not so!

Next time we go grocery shopping I'm certainly going to try out their dish washing detergent.. I'd really feel good about not dumping or using anymore petroleum than we have to down our drains.. and as often as we clean up carpet stains (baby + dogs = mess) we should really get some of their Carpet Spot Cleaner too... *sigh*

You can buy Seventh Generation cleaning products at many grocery stores, CVS, Target, Walgreens and of course on Amazon!

Angela,

We loved reading your review of our products. Thanks for the rousing and heartfelt endorsement. As a mom, I'm especially with you on the anxiety created by table-licking. Just wanted to let you know that our Carpet Cleaner is my favorite product of all. Not only does it do a great job on the carpet, but it works really well as a pre-treater for laundry stains. Try it and let us know what you think.

Thanks.

Please let us know how the dishwasher detergent works for you. I bought a box the other day, and it didn't fully dissolve in the soap compartment in our dishwasher, and many of our dishes had soap stuck to it. My dishwasher might be to blame, but this has never happened to me and it is my first time using Seventh Generation dishwasher soap. I normally love their products as a rule, so I was quite surprised this has happened.
