Blanket Review : Cariboo Blanket & Giveaway

This blanket prompted me to make a whole new category of reviews as blankets are becoming as high tech as mp3 players these days.

Cariboo makes beautiful high end luxurious baby furniture (the type a mom like me could only dream of!) and their Cariboo blanket is no exception.

Now don't let this scare you, but its made of 100% WOOL.. seriously not joking.. don't go running for the hills until you read the rest. I promise its worth it.

I have very sensitive skin and though I love wool for its great properties and environmentally friendly appeal, wearing (or sleeping on) wool for me is out of the question. I would wake up covered in hives or look like a rabid animal got a hold of me in the morning. I was assured before receiving this blanket that wool or not this blanket would be soft and totally itch free as well as hyper allergenic which until this review I would have considered thats craziness.

The Cariboo blanket is made of Puretec wool which is what gives it its superpowers. Just a few benefits of Puretec : itch free, Formaldehyde free, Naturally fire-retardant, Completely hypo-allergenic, they are even made with eco-friendly dye!

I think I should add that the green is more of a sage than a neon like the picture shows.

Well I have been carrying this blanket around in my diaper bag for almost a few weeks now and I have to say I am impressed. It is a very simple blanket, no fancy colors, no flashy design, but pound for pound it is far more versitile than the a typical newborn blanket. It is incredibly and surprisingly fluffy and we have used it from everything from a changing pad and snot catcher, to a windbreaker, and most importantly a nap time blanket. Its really folds up smaller than you would imagine and it fits perfectly in my diaper bag without adding a lot of extra weight unlike some of Connor's cotton blankets.

Only two downfalls I can see with this blanket. Though it is machine washable it is not advised that you dry the blanket in the dryer. Though I will note that it air drys in a very short amount of time so that is only a mild inconvenience. Otherwise the only thing that may scare some of you off is the price. Lets just say that luxury begets a luxury price tag. With a price tag of $99 this blanket is not for the die hard frugal moms out there. I only wish we had the toddler size as it will be a very sad day when Connor outgrows this one. I guess we will have to ask Santa!
