DVD Review : The True Story Of The 3 Little Pigs.. And More Animal Adventures!

You've heard the story of the Three Little Pigs from the point of view from the little pigs, but have you ever wondered about the story from the Big Bad Wolf's point of view? Maybe he was not nearly as bad as the little pigs made him out to be? Well in the new Scholastic Storybook Treasures you can hear the story directly from the Wolf's mouth and decide for yourself! As well The True Story Of The 3 Little Pigs.. And More Animal Adventures! features five storybook episodes including the title episode all animal themed.

Included on this DVD :
  • The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs (adapted from the story by Jon Scieszka, illustrated by Lane Smith, narrated by Paul Giamatti). The classic story told from the wolf’s point-of-view! Was he really as bad as everyone thinks he was?
  • The Pig’s Wedding (adapted from the story written and illustrated by Helme Heine). All the pigs are too dirty and smelly for Porker and Curleytail’s wedding — until the hosts mix a few cans of paint with lots of imagination.
  • Wallace’s Lists (adapted from the story written by Barbara Bottner and Gerald Kruglik, illustrated by Olof Landstrom, narrated by Zach Braff). Wallace, a mouse, can do almost anything as long as he has a list. Then he meets a new neighbor and discovers a wondrous world that’s not on any of his lists!
  • Henry Builds a Cabin (adapted from the book by D.B. Johnson, narrated by James Naughton). A frugal bear named Henry sets about building a small cabin and ends up with a much bigger home than he and his friends could ever imagine!
  • This Is the House That Jack Built (adapted from the book by Simms Taback, narrated by Mandy Patinkin). It all started with the cheese that lay in the house that Jack built in this fun interpretation of an age-old classic.

This has to be one of my favorite Storybook Treasure DVD's following Where the Wild Things Are and The Mouse and the Motorcycle. Actually up till receiving this DVD for review we had never even read The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs but I think I will have to buy a book copy for our collection. I've always secretly been a Big Bad Wolf fan.. I mean how could you not love his determination? The other stories in the collection are fun as well and with a running time of 63 minutes you get a lot of story time on this DVD. As well like all Storybook Treasure dvds all the books have a read along subtitle so young readers can read along with the narrator.

The True Story Of The 3 Little Pigs.. And More Animal Adventures! is available right now on DVD and you can pick up your copy on Amazon!

Disclosure: We were given a copy of The True Story Of The 3 Little Pigs.. And More Animal Adventures! free of charge, we were not compensated for this post in any other way. My opinions and comments on items we review are always my own and are never influenced by sponsors.
