Those are some squishy blocks you have there Connor!

Connor has been a block nut since the day he learned to stack one thing on top of the other. I mean what is there not to love you stack them you knock them down, you make a castle then the big bag dragon pushes it over (no um.. uh.. no I'm not talking about how we plan.. heh.. ok I am). Plus there just seems to be an endless amount of options when it comes to blocks and there is never any fear that this set wont work with this set... which is always nice.

Parents toys has long been my favorite toy isle to visit when I head to our local Target. There is always something new to see and it was one of the very first brands I ever noticed in a department store that made wooden toys. Regardless if you know anything about wooden toys or care if your toys are ecofriendly or not, you can't miss a display of Parents toys as they are always so incredibly colorful. I was actually at Target the other day admiring a great little car set and all of their wooden puzzles.

We recently got a chance to try out a set of Parents Architect Blocks. They are brightly colored "ABC" blocks that feature letters and cool little animals on each block. These are not at all your average ABC block though. They come in cool shapes squares, circles, rectangles, triangles, rounded, and more. It's everything you need to make one really neato castle if you ask me. The catch is unlike most blocks these are not wood, or even hard plastic. They are indeed squishy soft blocks about the same texture as a bath toy but squisher. (Is squisher even a word? Ah, If not I just officially made a new word for a toy that is softer than the toy previously.) Why on earth would you want a squishy block? Well that's super simple have you ever actually seen a really excited baby playing with blocks? They get chewed on, laid on, stepped on at least in Connor's case, and of course the real reason if you ask me... thrown at their brother, sister, and mommy's heads. At first I thought Connor was just throwing the blocks haphazardly and randomly hitting me but he is getting awfully good at his block throwing technique and I think its time to set some limits but if you saw him you'd have to agree that its just too funny. Remind me of that when I wake up with a black eye.

In the meantime our Parents Architect Blocks are throw friendly, squishable, fun, and perfect for practicing your colors, numbers, and animal shapes. I actually got Connor to say green, gold, and blue today. How cool is that?

If your looking for a last second gift idea Parents toys are always a great choice. I'm actually thinking of picking up a few wooden puzzles at Target before the end of the week.
