Book Review & GIVEAWAY!! : Handbag Friends

THIS CONTEST IS CLOSED!

I told you we had a special suprise for you! I have been blubbling over with excitement since Sally said she was sending this...

The hint earlier was "its pink", well its not just pink but its sparkly, cute, and incredibly fun!

Its .... *drumroll*

Handbag Friends
by Sally Lloyd-Jones & Sue Heap

The story opens with the Handbag Song which I would be happy to sing for you but I think the Handbag Friends themselves would do a better job. Please watch it here.. but be warned its been stuck in my head since I watched this! I'm actually considering naming my puppy Pinky Winky Winky Woo after hearing this!! *laugh*

Handbag Friends is filled with sillyness, sparkles, and all things pink! For any of you girls out there that has experienced a five year old girl full of sugar and on a glitter high you know exactly what I mean.

The story takes place Far Far Away where all the ladies in the land adopt baby pink handbags to carry around all their things. Then one day an evil meanie handbag, Clasp, pursenaps all the handbags and keeps them captive on the once happy (and very pink) Planet Pink Handbag. This leaves the Handbag friends homeless and very sad, so off they go on a mission to rescue the baby pink handbags!

This leaves me to my favorite part of the story and Connor will demostrate for us :

"I'm going to eat you... with my MOUTH!" See Connor's rendition of the bad evil gross purple handbag trying to eat the handbag friends!

I'm not going to tell you what happens but I will tell you the entire story leaves you wanting more. That is if you love sparkles, pink, moon horses, pink, fairy cakes, and silly songs!

I really really really really truely positively absoultely must have a Moon Horse of my very own.. Sally & Sue wherever you found them can you please bring me one? Please pretty sparkles ponies please?

This would be the perfect present for any little girl in your life (or even big little girls like me!). The people at the grocery store already think I'm completely insaine as I was caught singing the Handbag song all over the store. *shrug*

That brings me to the best part.. with many tears.. and sad faces.. I'm offering my beautiful pink Handbag Friends in a fabulous giveaway!

Visit Sally's site and check out all her titles. Especially look at the Handbag Friends section and come back here and name at least one of the Handbag Friends. Also leave me a fun message about why you think you should be the one to own my fabulous sparkley pinkalicious Handbag book. The person with the most wonderful pinkalicious reason will win! (so no "I want to win stuff... this time") I really need a good excuse so I won't feel so sad about giving it up.

To sweeten the pot.. this handbag is autographed! Yes all you pink lovers... oogle my pinkness!

You have until next monday Dec 10th to give me your best reason. Pass the word along to all your friends and show me some linky love and I'll give you extra sparkle points.

You do not need to be a blogger to join but do make sure if your leaving me a comment that I have a way of getting ahold of you. Annonymous postings must leave a valid email address or if you win there is no way for me to tell you! No email no win.

I like Semolina because my little smartypants says "actually" a lot, too. Roo is also obsessed with anything pink and sparkly, so she would definitely like this book. If you could add a copy of How To Be A Baby, she would like to read that to her little brother, too...

Well, I won't compete with these lovely people. I'm sure they deserve to win, much more than I. But I do have some news of my own.

I tagged you. Hope you don't mind.
Here it is.

So adorable and sweet. Very unique. Love it.

Well...to answer one question...one of our probably most favorite characters would have to be Binky as both my girls dear blankets go by that name. As to whether we are deserving enough to win, I would probably say I do have two very pink loving, purse carrying, book reading, princess dreaming girls in my house who would be delighted to make this handbag friend well worn and loved! Thanks for the offer!

My dearie and I do a lot of reading, but our selection is currently very small. I think we should win because I can't give a mouse a cookie one more time, and if I have to say "I love you as the river loves you" one more time, I might poke my eye out with her baby spoon. That would make reading considerably more difficult.

Loud Millie!!! What a great name!
I should win because I'm a pink-lovin', purse-totin', mama to a one year old girl!

One is Hop-Spot.

I'd love a chance to win this for my daughter. She is learning to read, she's chic, she's cool, she loves Monsters, it's pink, and most of all - she loves new friends.

Thanks for the chance!

This would be perfect for my pinker than pink grand-daughter!

I love all of the characters names...Loud Millie...it sounds like something my daughter would be calling one of her annoyingly loud friends! I would love this book for my little girl. She's spunky, loves pink and is just starting to read. Everynight she chooses a new book to sleep with, this would be one she could not only carry around with her (much like her little purse with her initial!), but she could also fall asleep having sweet dreams and a wild imagination after "reading" it.

Kammy said...

Oh my little girl LOVES pinky and is oh so sassy! She would love this book because she enjoys carrying purses and reading books.

This is just adorable, please add my entry.

balloon-bird is another character...and I think I should win because a little girl I know at church is a fashionista, she is only 8 but knows that she wants to be a fashion designer when she grows up, she would love this!

Hello, What a fabulous pink purse. How come they didn't have these when I was a young princess?! "Loud-Millie sounds like quite a character to me!
Winning this special purse would mean a lot to me. First, because I was deprived of one myself as a young girl. Secondly, I have a great-niece who truly believes she is a "princess!" I mean she loves pink, likes to have many friends and she sings all the time. She's actually got a very nice voice. Thanks for the contest! Cindi

I have two little princesses that love everything pink. They like to be called true princesses. My youngest, 2 years old, wears dresses everyday, usually princess dresses (yes we go shopping in crowns). This week she is wearing her pink princess dress (her older sisters old Christmas dress) everyday with pink riendeer ears (she has been calling herself princess roudolph). Her older sister, 4 years old, is also very girly, she has only worn pants to preschool once and it has been raining and snowing lately. They ove reading adventure books and anything with princesses or ballerinas (they just discover anglina ballerina and the nutcracker) and especially love when I add silly voice which I can already imaging for Binky, Balloon-Bird, and Loud Millie. Also they love carrying bags around the house and in public with their treasures (shells and cars this week). They would adore this book and have me read it every night. By the third day my oldest will be reading (from memory) to her sister. Please pick my princesses as they would really love this handbag/book :)

Balloon-Bird. It looks like a fun book that my daughter could grow into. She loves books and love to carry things all over the house.

I have 2 girls this would be wonderful for. My 4-year-old daughter's favorite color is pink. she even has jammies that say if it is not pink, i'll raise a stink. She is very prissy as well and always has a purse with her.

My daughter only has brothers to play with, she needs some pick in the world of matchbox cars!

Ohhh I'm a Semolina fan already. I want this book for ME because I'm the only girl in my house and I need some pinkness for myself.

I think I should win it because I listened to that song.
No, really, I have a 4yo who would just flip for such a cute pink, sparkly, fancy schmancy, adorable book about purses! She is a princess, and she says so every day, and pink and sparkles and purses are definatly a love in her life. Plus, she is number 6 of 7 children and gets the short end of the stick a lot in the gifts area, the teens want expensive gifts, you know.

Loud-Millie sounds like a great character! I know a Millie and she is a bit loud. And loves SPAM. She's a funny character, herself.

OHHHHH! My five year old granddaughter - er, did I say granddaughter?...I meant our Princess of Pinkdom herself, Kewpie...as in THE doll - for she is truly the doll of our humble family...why am I here?...OH YES! ...pink, shiny, sparkly stuff that she loves to much!
How many hugs do you think Grandma would get when she give this to Kewpie?........OH!...BUNCHES and BUNCHES, I'M SURE!!!

According to Binky and My own little Pink Princess Miss Bailee, this book has a home waiting for it in our library. Not that this child already doesn't have too many handbags (is that possible) and she's only 18months old-- what's one more precious pink one?! :) My daughter loved that crazy annoying song... haha! THANKS!

That is so cute..my neice would love it!!

Binky is one of the friends. I'd love to win this to give to my youngest daughter. She only wears pink, loves anything sparkly & is just a little princess. She would really enjoy this book & I'd love to surprise her with it!

My granddaughter Lily would love this!

I am going to name binky as one of the friends, because my 20 month old daughter is totally addicted to hers. Having said that, she is the most girly girl I know, and because I was a tomboy growing up, as is my 8 year old daughter, there
were very few "pink" things in our house when she came along. Now everything she has is pink and sparkles. She loves dress up and hair things, and baby dolls and everything that has anything to do with girly. I am learning as I go along because
I really know nothing about painting fingernails and such. I was always more into lego and cars and climbing trees. She would "love" to add this to her collection of girly things.

Some of the Handbag Friends are Loud Millie, Semolina, and Binky.

I think my daughter would adore this book. We live in our own pink and purple world, where I collect cute purple things and she collects cute, sparkly pink things.

Being the hyperactive overgrown eternal teenager that I am, I think the Handbag Friends are adorable, but my daughter would lose her freaking mind over how cute this book is.

Like all little girls her age, she wants everything in the world to be pinkalicious and pinktastic, until she hits her teens and goes Goth.
In the meantime, I got her the cutest pink Hello Kitty electric guitar for christmas. I think the Handbag Friends would approve.

Loud Millie is awefully cute! And I would be pround to carry her into work after my return from short term disability. Now of course everyone will think that I am still on my pain killers. Or perhaps that my leave was for something other than a physical ailment. But in reality it will be for a dear co-workers sweetie. :) You gotta see her pics! Awww!!!!

Loud Millie is one of the characters in the book. I would love to give this to my hard-to-buy-for-because-she-has-EVERYthing niece. She's so into princesses and all things pretty (and pink!), but I know she doesn't have this book yet. We were shopping the other day and while we were browsing the kitchen store she found this package that had a little handle - she put one on each hand and paraded around the store with her little "purses." Everyone thought she was so cute (because she is!) and she was so proud of herself! She would love this!

Ok- I'll name Semolina. And why do I think I should have this gem? Well, with 3 girls ages 6 and under I have been known to put up a fight now and then against the fairy and pinkness of my life...but this book seems like the sort of thing that'd help me embrace it and make it that much more fun!
