The Fropper to me looks a bit like a water bug. Long slender legs connected to a fat body, and two almost antenna looking handlebars coming off the top. Like the Cheeky Chick that we reviewed awhile back this ride on toy is ready to travel with you anywhere you go. I easily folds down to a relatively small package for storage for travel. Actually the back of the seat has a built in carrying handle to make transport easy. For those mom's who go to a ton of playgroups it would be perfect for taking with, the only issue is teaching the kids to share it!
The Cheeky Chick is designed more for infants who are just learning to walk and its front wheels are locked into a strait position. This is great for little ones, but toddlers like Connor who rarely stop moving even to sleep, need a bit more action and boy does the Fropper deliver. The Fropper sports four wheels that swivel a full 360 degrees. In Connor language that means he can come flying into the living room at full blast, spin in a circle and head back into the kitchen like the police were on his tail. Actually the police, aka his daddy, is usually not far behind. Unlike some of the other ride ons we have reviewed the Fropper's seat is a bit farther off the ground which actually means its easier for Connor to push as he is standing in a more upright position (much like a bike).
What really took Connor by surprise was the really unique feature on the Fropper. The unusual seat design actually allows riders to bounce in the seat. It's a bit stiffer than I imagined and really takes some force, aka a jumping toddler, to get it bouncing. That has become more of a blessing than a flaw though as I was really worried he might bounce himself backwards off the seat and thats thankfully not the case! It also has a small hole in the back of the seat for a parent handle that allows parents to push their children on the Fropper. Though Connor would have tolerated that with the Cheeky Chick there is no way on earth this kid is going to allow me to push him on the Fropper. Mom is way too slow for my speed demon and he'd much rather spend in circles than go for a walk. For kids who have not quite gotten their bearing on a ride on though its a fabulous option and perfect for the younger babies.
Really the only drawback to the Fropper we have found is using it outdoors. Connor thought it would be a brilliant idea to take his new "fast" ride on for a great trip down our sloping driveway. Don't worry he is ok, but those more upright legs just do not lend themselves super well to our bumpy driveway. However on smooth walkways, patios, and of course my living room (aka the daytona 500) its one sweet ride. By far Connor's favorite riding toy to date.
