So what does National Lampoon have to do with cavemen!?!

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is one of my all time favorite movies and is a yearly tradition as no Christmas is right without watching it at least once. So when I saw National Lampoon's Stoned Aged on my release schedule I was curious, especially seeing as the National Lampoon's vacation series has always been a favorite around here.

National Lampoon has always been known for stupid humor, bad jokes, and even sometimes its mildly suggestive humor. After all who can forget the reference to gerbils and rubber sheets in Christmas Vacation, and if you never noticed go back and watch it again. Stoned Age upholds these traditions and brings them to a all time new high. Stoned Aged was obviously filmed on a very small budget, is badly acted, and employs new levels of terrible jokes. Strangely enough it all works and it its hilarious in sort of a college drunken humor which unless your incredibly uptight you can't help to laugh. It's just one of those movies you can't take seriously and it really plays to that childish humor that most of us like to pretend we don't have.

The story follows Ishbo, a caveman who compared to the other cavemen he's a genius who is bound and determined to win the heart of the beautiful Fadart who is in love with his idiotic but muscular brother. This all coming from a culture who values stupid big bruts, sounds something like what we want out of football players in these days eh? Ishbo with his crazy gadgets and his love of Fadart (who names a girl Fadart anyways?) is bound and determined to add a little brainpower to his otherwise stupid companions.

I'm not saying this is the best movie I've ever watched, and it has some blatant nudity which is most likely what earns it its unrated rating but I have to say after having a really stressful week there are times where its nice to just sit back and watch something that requires no brain power and laugh. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone looking for a award winning performance but it's certainly great for a laugh.

National Lampoon's Stoned Age is available right now on DVD and you can pick up your copy on Amazon!

I have three copies of National Lampoon's Stoned Age to give away to my readers.

  16. I like Animal House. It's hard to beat because of the cast, the silliness, the time frame, etc. When I first saw it, the folk singing scene with the guitar cracked me up.
