I think I missed the shower invitation but somehow Ariel had a daughter since last I saw her I guess after her marriage to Eric it was bound to happen. The trouble is that pesky Morgana is still a threat and when Ariel brings her daughter to meet her grandfather Morgana starts acting up again and threatens to kidnap the baby, Melody. Hmm the name Melody is a bit ironic don't you think seeing as Ariel's big talent is for singing. heh. Little Mermaid II : Return to the Sea is the new Little Mermaid installment and it picks up shortly after the last movie left off.Anyways to make a long story short Ariel vows to keep her daughter safe by hiding the truth about her and keeping her away from the ocean. Any parent of teenagers know that basically anything parents are dead set in preventing when it comes to teenagers is the one thing that they will absolutely want to do. Needless to say Melody loves the ocean be it her history or her mother's will to keep her away but in the end that all backfires. Doesn't it always? Melody meets Morgana not having any clue at all who she is or what she wants and ends up tricking her into turning into a Mermaid. Go figure people Ariel wanted out and now Melody is in the ocean.
I'm joking I actually love Ariel and Melody is alot like her mother. They both have the gift of song, they both longed for a life that is different, and they both have a slightly naughty rebellion thing going on. Morgana however is still as nasty as ever and you'd think after Ariel leaving they would have done something but better late than never. Needless to say its about time that we saw Ariel again, I remember how much I absolutely LOVED the first film and it was great to see her again and see how the story was progressing in our absence. Every little girl you know will totally flip if they loved the first movie.

Ok, I was in high school when the original Little Mermaid came out and I just fell in love with it. I know I was a bit old, but it was and is great! I watched it so much that the tape stopped working. My favorite part is all of the lovey dovey stuff with Prince Eric and Ariel. I loved all the music in the movie. I was not fond of some parts of the movie, because I was pregnant when it came out on video and I cried and cried every time I watched it. Which was a lot because I had horrid morning sickness and couldn't move, and my husband thought it was funny to make me cry.

ReplyDeleteThe Little Mermaid is one of Disney's best animated motion pictures. It tells the classic Hans Christian Anderson story of a mermaid who wishes she could be human in order to capture the love of a human prince. The animation is beautiful, in fact I think this is one of Disney's most flawless films. It features lovable characters: Ariel the little mermaid is one of my favorite 'Disney girls', Sebastian the crab, Scuttle the wacky seagull, Flounder the... flounder, Triton Ariel's father the Sea King and of course prince charming- Eric. And don't think I forgot the most despised octopus of the oceans- Ursula and her two eels Flotsam and Jetsum. Great beginning and great ending... and of course a lovable story. The music is beautiful (and rightfully won the Oscar for best score and best song). The score is by Alan Menken (who also provided us with the scores of Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast). Some of the most beautiful Disney songs are in The Little Mermaid- Part of Your World, Kiss the Girl and for a little bit of dancin' Under the Sea. A movie for all ages, you will be enchanted by Ariel's world under the sea, by the wacky characters, the cruel but in a strange way lovable Ursula, the score, the songs, the story and the animation. I hope everybody has The Little Mermaid in their video collection to one day show their children and grandchildren or any youngster (or adult for that matter). You will be captured by Ariel and want to be part of her (most intriguing) world.
