What do you mean you people?

Tropic Thunder may just be the best or worst movie of the year depending on who you ask. I say that pretty loosely as personally I think its the funniest movie of the year hands down but with that said I know not all of you are into Ben Stiller's type of humor, ahem.. mom.. dad... heh. Ben Stiller is brilliant in sort of that geeky kid giggling and snorting to himself over his own private joke sort of a manner. Zoolander was great though it lacks the debt that Ben made up for twice fold with Tropic Thunder.

Tropic Thunder starts with the biggest, fictional, stars in the world have come together to recreate a book about Vietnam. Everyone thinks it may just be the biggest movie ever but the actors in real life have their own stories and issues. Ben Stiller's character is a big star that is stuck in a rut and having a hard time finding himself. His over protective agent is obsessed with him as he sees him as his meal ticket. The rest of the cast of Tropic Thunder are sort of a random group. A big time rapper, an actor with an out of control drug addiction, a overly dramatic Australian actor who happens to be white but has undergone treatments to look black and play a black soldier in the movie, pretty much a whole group of Hollywood stereotypes.

When the taping gets out of control as the actors are a bit too spoiled the director takes a drastic step and decides to take the actors into the jungle to give them a more realistic experience.. unfortunately it turns a little too real when the director steps onto a land mine and gets himself blown up. The actors not knowing, half not believing what just happened, decide to go on just like the movie was really taping. The only issue is its not a movie at all anymore.

The brilliant part is Ben finds a way to make fun of everything you think of Hollywood in a way that is fearless from race issues to the ridiculous demands of some actors nothing is sacred and he makes fun of things that are just usually completely off limits, all the while keeping you laughing. Though it does have some questionable language, drug use, and questionable behavior it makes for the perfect adult night movie for when the kids are sleeping.
