I knew that sheep looked awfully familuar!


I didn't place it at first but the little black sheep on the front cover of Shaun The Sheep : Off The Baa! looked awfully familiar. It wasn't until I started the movie did I realize that it was the same Shaun that graced the Wallace and Grommit episodes from the same producer.

Shaun the Sheep actually had a lot in common with Wallace and Grommit, he shares the same style and look of animation as the very popular Wallace and Grommit show. Shaun actually got his start in animated shorts during Wallace and Grommit episodes and he is finally getting his own moment in the sun. The first DVD Off The Baa! features eight exciting episodes.

The best episode by far is Timmy In A Tizzy. The little lamb Timmy has a favorite stuffed bear, he actually breaks out into tears every second that he doesn't have it. The opening scene opens to him crying uncontrollably because he can't find his bear. When Shaun gives him his bear he immediately snuggles up with it. Trouble starts when Timmy is caught playing with his bear in the field and the farmer walks by and picks it up. I almost laughed till I cried when I saw poor little Timmy and him trying to hold back its tears with that huge bottom lip. It actually reminds me a bit of Connor lately... he has been a total terror wanting to do everything he shouldn't and he breaks out in tears constantly. heh. Needless to say its up to Shaun to find Timmy's bear and save the day.

    Our whole family enjoys Wallace and Grommit, since it has the same creator I can only imagine that it would be good too. This would make a fun movie for the family to watch together.

    I stayed away from seeing this because I thought it was "Shaun OF the Sheep" like a spin-off of Shaun of the Dead or something.. but it's an Aardvark work, so what was I thinking?! I love stop-motion animation, and they do it best.. as you can see.. I haven't seen it for fear of zombie sheep. Pretty stupid, I know.

    Wallace and Grommit have always been near and dear to my family. My sister first introduced us to the series, and not long afterwards I ended up getting her son a "Sean" plushie, which he keeps to this day. I think he'd really get a kick out of seeing his childhood snugglebuddy going off and having his own adventures!
