How did they do that?

I think as we get older we forget the joy in just learning how things work. I'm always amazed at Connor's fascination with the smallest things, ants, a blade of grass, the inside workings of my remote.. uhh. It seems like his little mind just cannot get enough of how, why, where.. things I take for granted are wondrous to him. I'm a bit jealous actually think how amazing it must be to be, well, so amazed about life.

Every boy at some point, and even some girls, get obsessed with vehicles especially cars. I think its something ingrained in their DNA as Connor would push a car around at six months old and say vrrrrmmm before he ever even saw anyone do it. Just seeing a tractor sends him into fits of excitement he wants to touch them, sit on them, and check out every little button. Mind you the kid has not seen a tractor in action since he was three months old so how does he know he even likes them? Your guess is as good as mine but I'll go back to my boy DNA theory.

A new DVD series called How'd They Build That follows boy's favorite things, vehicles, through the creation process.

The first DVD we watched, BIG TRUCK shows a Semi Truck being built from the ground up with tons of mechanical robots, sparks flying everywhere while they are welding the parts, and of course a close up and personal look at the inner workings of a Semi from the driver's point of view. I have to say I wasn't so overly excited about the building part, however Connor LOVED every second of it, but I did love to see the inside of the Semi. I always wonder a little what its like inside of one.

The second DVD FIRE TRUCK was my favorite of the two as it follows a Fire Truck as its created in Wisconsin. Seeing as most Fire Trucks are custom made this is a much more man operated business and you get to see alot of people working hard making the trucks. As Connor's dad is in public service as well its nice to see a little more about the Fire Trucks themselves as well as how it works and where all the firemen sit!
